The Alabama Department of Education has appointed a new deputy superintendent.
Tommy Bice, superintendent of the Alexander City School System, has been appointed as the state Deputy Superintendent of Education. He will oversee all aspects of instruction for the state's education department.
Bice has also worked as a teacher, psychometrist, adjunct professor, principal and regional director for the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
He received his bachelor's degree special education from Auburn University, his master's degree in special education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and his educational doctorate from Auburn. He also attended the Harvard Institute for School Leadership and the National Academy for Superintendents at Ohio State University.
