Soon the southern end of Columbus' Lynch Road will stop at Macon Road. Columbus Council held a public hearing Tuesday on changing Lynch Road's name to Technology Parkway between Chattsworth Road and Macon Road, out in the Muscogee panhandle. No one objected, though some councilors questioned whether this would cause confusion or burden property owners with address changes. City administrators said no one lives on that part of the road, as most residential development along Lynch is north of Macon Road, not south toward Chattsworth. The southern portion of Lynch is being renamed to serve Muscogee Technology Park. So is a new road now designated the Eastern Connector. It also will be renamed Technology Parkway, so eventually the entire length of the parkway will run from Macon Road south through the Muscogee Technology Park and connect with Schatulga Road between Buena Vista Road and Forrest Road. Council still must take a final vote on the renaming.
