Twenty eight teams began their quest for the title of Best Ranger Friday on day one of the 25th Annual David E. Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition at Fort Benning.
The two-man teams began at 7am with the Darby Mile Buddy Run before tackling the obstacle course at Malvesti Field before continuing to Victory Pond, which they swam across. After having their l fitness with these events, the teams continued the weekend long competition with a variety of events including a parachute jump, orienteering and marksmanship skills.
Later Friday, the teams were scheduled to begin a grueling overnight foot march before facing another day of events that test their physical and mental stamina as well as their skills.
