Gasoline prices rose nearly two pennies more in Columbus today, registering another in a series of record highs.
The average price of regular unleaded hit $3.469 per gallon locally, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. That's up from $3.451 per gallon Monday.
It's also up from $3.22 per gallon a month ago and nearly $2.76 per gallon on April 22 a year ago.
Athens and Atlanta continue to battle it out over the highest average recorded price at the pump in Georgia. Athens is the most expensive at $3.53 per gallon, while Atlanta is closing in on $3.52 per gallon. Both are all-time highs for those cities today.
The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta, which is $3.42 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices also spiked higher, posting a record $4.16 per gallon today in Columbus, up a half-cent from the day before.
Nationally, more records were broken as well.
The U.S. average for regular unleaded today is a record high of $3.51 per gallon, AAA reported. Diesel is $4.20 per gallon.
