Gasoline prices pushed to within a half-penny of $3.50 per gallon today in Columbus, setting another record high.
The average price of regular unleaded hit $3.495 per gallon locally, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. That's up from $3.469 per gallon, or two and six-tenths higher, than the day before.
That's also up from $3.21 per gallon a month ago and nearly $2.75 per gallon on April 23 a year ago.
Athens recorded the highest average pump price in Georgia at $3.55 per gallon, trailed by Atlanta at $3.53 and Savannah at $3.52, all record highs for those cities.
The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta, which is selling for $3.43 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices held steady today in Columbus, registering $4.16 per gallon, the same as on Tuesday.
Nationally, more all-time highs were set.
The U.S. average for regular unleaded today is $3.53 per gallon, up two cents from Tuesday, AAA reported. Diesel is $4.21 per gallon, up a penny.
