The Russell County School Board heard presentations from four architectural firms Tuesday night in preparations for choosing one to design kitchen and cafeteria expansions at three elementary schools.
The system is preparing to expand the kitchens and cafeterias at Dixie Elementary, Oliver Elementary and Ladonia Elementary.
The board heard 10-minute presentations from Hecht Burdeshaw, Andras Allen Starr, Volkert and Associates and Exford Architects during a work session.
Two of the firms — Hecht Burdeshaw and Andras Allen Starr — have worked on cafeteria and kitchen construction projects in the area before.
Never miss a local story.
Hecht Burdeshaw is currently working on a kitchen and cafeteria at Meadowlane Elementary in Phenix City; architects from Andras Allen Starr oversaw kitchen and cafeteria construction at Kendrick High School and the new Rigdon Road Elementary school in Muscogee County.
Board president Joseph Williams said the group will probably select a firm to take on the three projects at their meeting in May.
During the board meeting, the board also approved an overnight field trip May 25-May 31, for the JROTC at Russell County High School for training.
