Phenix City police have arrested a man accused of burning down his own house Tuesday evening.
Richard Calvin Jones of Phenix City was arrested and charged with second-degree arson.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred on April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at a house on Martin Drive, where Jones lived with his girlfriend.
According to a news release from the Phenix City police department, officers met with members of the Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department who were in the process of extinguishing the fire.

An investigation into the fire led to Jones' arrest.
Phenix City Lt. Curtis Lewis said the damage to the house was "extensive" and that the dwelling is uninhabitable.
Jones, 38, was the only person at home at the time of the fire. No one was injured.
The case remains under investigation.
