Gasoline prices continue to hop, skip and jump toward $4 per gallon, hitting a record $3.603 per gallon today in Columbus.
That's up from $3.50 per gallon only five days ago. It also mirrors the national average.
The average price of regular unleaded hit $3.60.3 per gallon locally today, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. That's up from $3.594 per gallon on Sunday and is nearly 11 cents higher than $3.495 per gallon on April 23.
A month ago, pump prices were $3.22 per gallon in Columbus. They were $2.84 per gallon, or 76 cents cheaper, on April 28 a year ago.
Athens and Atlanta recorded Georgia's highest average price today at $3.62 per gallon, all-time highs for both of those cities.
The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta, which is $3.50 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices also moved higher today in Columbus, registering a record $4.21 per gallon, up nearly 3 cents from Sunday.
Nationally, more gas records were set. The U.S. average for regular unleaded today is $3.60 per gallon, up a penny from Sunday, AAA reported.
Diesel held steady nationally, however, at $4.24 per gallon.
