Two young boys were pulled from the Chattahoochee River Saturday near Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, officials with the Columbus Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services said.
The two boys, an eight-year-old and a ten-year-old were taken to The Medical Center in Columbus. Their identities were not released.
Fire officials said the two boys, both brothers, were riding their bicycles with a third boy near Oxbow when they decided to go swimming in the river.
After the two brothers went into the water, the third boy attempted to help them but couldn't get them out. A man fishing nearby called 911.
Two divers were called in and the boys were pulled out of the water 45 minutes later.
