About the same time more than 200 soldiers from the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat team were being reunited with their families at Fort Benning, it was business as usual for another group back in Iraq.
Soldiers from Company D, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment found a significant weapons cache in an open courtyard while conducting dismounted operations approximately five miles southeast of Baghdad.
The cache contained three rocket-propelled grenade warheads and propellants, three rocket-propelled grenade launchers and a heavy machine gun.
Other items found in the cache included several ski masks with an Iraqi National Police brassard, a light machine gun with a small amount of ammunition and multiple trip flares.
The 1-15, like the remainder of the soldiers still in Iraq, will be home by month's end.
