A Columbus man accused by police of trying to steal money from a Buena Vista Road Circle K is in custody.
Jabriel Rahman Ali, 32, of 10 Stonewall Drive was arrested around 6:30 a.m. Monday and charged with the attempted robbery of the convenience store at 3010 Buena Vista Road, said Columbus Police Lt. Charles Kennedy.
Ali allegedly entered the store about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and asked the clerk for some cigarettes. When the employee turned to get a pack, Ali jumped the counter and tried to open the register, police have said.
The clerk ran to the store's office, and Ali left empty handed, police said.

"They started calling in late (Sunday) evening," Kennedy said of tips about Ali.
He was found at a Roosevelt Street apartment, and the SWAT team was called out when he wouldn't leave the home, Kennedy said. After moving to tactical positions, Ali went outside.
Ali also faces a criminal trespass charge, which stems from damage he allegedly did to his girlfriend's door on St. Marys Road, Kennedy said.
