The price of gasoline rose today in Columbus to another record high.
The average price of regular unleaded hit $3.789 locally, up from $3.776 on Thursday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Prices are 48 cents per gallon higher than they were a month ago in Columbus. They are 86 cents per gallon higher than on May 16 a year ago.
Athens had the highest average price today in Georgia at $3.79 per gallon, two pennies more expensive than in Atlanta. The prices broke records in both cities.

The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta at $3.70 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices also spiked higher today in Columbus to an all-time high of $4.46 per gallon, up a penny from the day before.
Nationally, more records fell today. The U.S. average for regular unleaded gas is $3.79 per gallon, AAA reported, while diesel reached $4.48 per gallon.
