The Muscogee County School board plans to choose a superintendent search firm at Monday's board meeting.
The board held a called meeting at the Marriott hotel Saturday afternoon to interview three search firms applying for the job of looking for a replacement for current Superintendent John Phillips, who will retire in August.
The firms included Brock, Clay and Associates, an Atlanta-based firm that the board has hired before. The firm recommended Phillips as a candidate for the superintendency in 2002.
Two other firms, based out of Illinois, also met with the board for interviews — Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates and BWP Associates.
Board vice chairman Phillip Schley said the board could spend $25,000 to $30,000 plus expenses to hire a firm to conduct the search. A timeline for the search has not been set.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Bradley Library Conference Room.
