Gas prices pushed ever higher today in Columbus to a record $3.86 per gallon.
The average price of regular unleaded hit $3.862 locally, up three cents from Thursday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report and the Oil Price Information Service.
Columbus gas prices are 37 cents per gallon higher than they were a month ago. They are 79 cents per gallon higher than on May 23 a year ago.
Atlanta has the highest average price today in Georgia at $3.88 per gallon, also an all-time high for that city. Athens and Savannah are around $3.86 per gallon, while Albany motorists are paying an average $3.85 per gallon.
The state's lowest average, as usual, can be found in Augusta at $3.77 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices also spiked higher today in Columbus to nearly $4.65 per gallon, an all-time high of $4.60 per gallon and up more than four pennies from the day before.
Nationally, more records were set.
The U.S. average for regular unleaded gas is nearly $3.88 per gallon, AAA reported, while diesel is $4.65 per gallon.
