County commission and school board seats in Lee and Russell counties will be decided in the June 3 Alabama primary election next week.
The Russell County Commission will have four seats decided in either next Tuesday's primary or in the runoff election on July 15: Districts 4,5, 6 and 7.
The candidates in those races, all Democrats, are:
District 4: incumbent Johnnie C. Robinson (D); Ronnie Reed (D); Isaiah Sumbry (D); and Jerome Tucker (D).
District 5: incumbent Cattie Epps (D); Henry "Chuck" Goshay (D)
District 6: incumbent Mervin Dudley (D); Jimmy Adams; and Arthur "Buster" Sanders.
District 7: incumbent J.D. Upshaw (D); Bob Schweiger (D); and Larry Screws (D). The lone Russell County School Board race is for the at-large seat between incumbent Alphonso Johnson (D) and Larry Laney (D).
The Republican nomination for a Lee County Commission seat and a new Lee County School Board member will be decided in the primary, both representing the Smiths Station area.
The GOP nominee for commission District 3 will be decided between Raymond Grier and Gary Long, while either Milford Burkhalter or Mark Tomlin will be the new Place 1 school board member.
