A 20-year-old LaGrange woman was shot to death Thursday in her Chatham Street home. Her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend has been arrested and charged with murder.
At about 6:25 p.m., LaGrange Police responded to a call at 209 A Chatham St. and found Ashley Bruce shot once in the chest. She was flown to the Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta by helicopter and pronounced dead at 11 p.m.
The victim's ex-boyfriend, Jaquavious "Quay" Tucker, 17, was arrested several hours after the shooting. Tucker, of 109 B. Handley St. in LaGrange, is being held without bond at the Troup County Jail. He is charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
LaGrange police say Tucker went to Bruce's residence and an argument ensued. Bruce went inside and locked her door, but went to the living room window and told Tucker, who was standing near the roadway in front of her apartment, to leave. The argument escalated and Tucker pulled a handgun and fired several shots into the air. He then pointed the gun toward Bruce and fired twice. One bullet hit a metal awning, but the other went through the open window, through Bruce's left hand and into her right chest.
Several witnesses saw the incident, and identified Tucker for police. Tucker fled n foot and was captured several hours later in an apartment at 150 Turner St. in LaGrange.
Anyone with information regarding the incident shoud call the LaGrange Police Department at (706) 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
