Herbert Greene has been named the next executive director of the Columbus Sports Council, according to CSC board chairman Kent Illges.
Greene, former Columbus State University basketball coach, will take over from Janice Davis, who is retiring effective June 16.
“We couldn’t ask for a more ideal leader for our organization. With his background in sports and his great understanding of this community, he will continue to lead the CSC to a promising future
“On the other hand, it is with great regret that we accept the resignation from Janice Davis. She has served this organization and this community well over the last decade. Her leadership and vision for sports in our community have increased the economic impact for our city throughout the years. She will be greatly missed,” Illges added.
For 25 years, Greene was CSU's head basketball coach and for 22 years its athletic director. Greene has served the last three years on the CSC board of directors.
