The Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association's Excellence in Leadership Award for the state of Georgia was given this year to Georgia Department of Human Resources employee Sam Cunningham.
Cunningham is an emergency medical technician and paramedic as well as the EMS director for West Central Georgia Region 7. He received the award May 27 at a banquet held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth.
The Georgia EMS Association was established to advocate for EMTs, paramedics, and the EMS system. The association is dedicated to quality pre-hospital care and they established this award for excellence in leadership in Georgia’s EMS system.
Cunningham has been married to his wife, Mary, for over 32 years. She is a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker-Kennon, Parker, Duncan and Key. They have two children, Kristin of Columbus and Jason of Durham, NC.
