Reba Rae, a long-time employee in the Muscogee County and Harris County Superior Court Clerk's office, announced Tuesday that she would be running for Clerk of Superior Court in Muscogee County.
Rae formally announced to her candidacy to a group of about 30 friends, family members and supporters in the plaza of the Government Center.
She said if she was elected, she would keep the court records accurate and well-organized and make sure the clerk's office ran efficiently.
"Keeping good records is important to me," she said. "People have busy lives. When they come here to the clerk's office, they should be able to get the records in a timely manner."
Rae is a Columbus resident and Baker High School graduate. She has been employed with the Harris County Superior Court Clerk's office since January 1999. She was also employed from 1988 to 1998 in the Muscogee County Superior Court Clerk's office.
The Clerk of Superior Court office is currently held by Linda Pierce. She is also running for the position in the November election.
