Columbus gas prices edged a penny and a half higher today to yet another record.
The average price of regular gas reached $3.971 per gallon locally, up from $3.956 per gallon Tuesday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report and the Oil Price Information Service.
The city's gas prices are nearly 30 cents per gallon higher than they were a month ago. They are now $1 per gallon higher than on June 11 a year ago.
Atlanta, at nearly $4.04 per gallon, and Athens, at $4.02 per gallon, have the highest average price today in Georgia.
The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta at $3.94 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices also spiked higher today in Columbus to a record $4.765 per gallon.
Nationally, more records were set.
The U.S. average for regular gas topped $4.05 per gallon, AAA reported, while diesel rose to $4.79 per gallon.
