The average price of regular today climbed from $3.976 to $3.978 per gallon locally, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report and the Oil Price Information Service.
Columbus gas prices are nearly 23 cents per gallon higher than they were a month ago. They are $1.01 per gallon higher than on June 13 a year ago.
Athens, at $4.04 per gallon, and Atlanta, at $4.03 per gallon, have the highest average price in Georgia today.
The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta at $3.95 per gallon.
Diesel fuel prices also spiked higher today in Columbus to $4.771 per gallon, an all-time high.
Nationally, more records were broken.
The U.S. average for regular gas $4.066 per gallon, AAA reported, while diesel topped $4.796 per gallon.
