The Muscogee County School Board will vote on an amended budget for the Northside High School auditorium at a meeting tonight.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Bradley Library.
The board discussed the increased budget for the new auditorium at a work session last Monday.
The estimated construction cost of Northside High School's auditorium originally was set at $5.9 million; the total cost of construction, including soft costs such as architects' fees and furniture, now is expected to be about $8 million.
Never miss a local story.
The original estimate was suggested before plans were drawn, said Bobby Hecht, the district's construction director.
Hecht told the board he has been meeting with the architects and construction managers to look for ways to cut costs.
About $7.1 million is available in the budget for the project; the additional $929,300 required will come from the capital projects non-project related fund.
