The Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens is Nov. 1, and there will be a major change in the Terrace area.
The Terrace section is being completely renovated and according to executive director Jenn Agnew, it's right on schedule.
In fact, Bo Smith, the project manager of Vance Smith Construction Co., said the entire thing should be done by the first of September.
Besides Smith's company, Jordan, Jones and Goulding, a landscape architecture firm, will spruce up the place.
Never miss a local story.
"Jenn and Mason Lampton (the Steeplechase founder) have really, really put a lot of thought into it," Smith said.
The entire Terrace area has been ripped out, Agnew said. There will be a central drop-off point. The driver can then park and find the rest of his party.
"There will be hosts and hostesses helping people get things out of their cars, including coolers and picnic baskets," Agnew said.
All Terrace box holders will walk down the Race Arcade, which will have the vendor booths as well as Steeplechase souvenirs.
Another addition is an expanded "social area" where people can talk without having to block the walkway as in the past.
A true Winner's Circle will be built in front of the Terrace.
