Expect to see Columbus resident Ashley Hatcher and her Lapper dinner trays roughly 30 minutes into tonight's 8-10 p.m. segment of the QVC shopping program, "Kitchen Ideas."
Hatcher, who created and designed the non-slip dinner trays in 2006, is making her first appearance on the home-shopping network. She arrived in Philadelphia early this afternoon and was told by a QVC producer that the Lappers will likely be the fourth or fifth product presented on the program tonight.
She has sold about 70,000 of the dinner trays, which use silicone-based pads to keep plates and glassware from sliding around on them. A partner in the Columbus-based company, CamoVision of Georgia, she has 6,000 trays on hand for tonight's Lapper segment segment, which could last six to eight minutes depending on how well they are selling.
The Lapper trays are available in various colors and styles, including collegiate logos, at various retail outlets and online, varying in price from about $20 to $26 apiece. But it appears the colors for tonight's show will be limited to two designs — brown trays with blue mats or blue trays with brown mats, according to the QVC Web site. The QVC deal offers two dinner trays for $29.92, plus $6.22 shipping and handling.
