A Department of Defense contractor working in Iraq was arrested Sunday on Fort Benning on a charge of aggravated sexual abuse.
Jorge J. Thornton, 27, who was employed by BlackHawk Management Corp. and most recently lived in Tal Afar, Iraq, is accused of using force on June 14 to inappropriately touch a woman while at Forward Operating Base Sykes in Tal Afar. He was indicted by a Western District of Texas federal grand jury Aug. 12 and arrested Sunday without incident, said FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett.
Thornton is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate today at 2:30 p.m.
The felony offense carries a maximum sentence of life and a $250,000 fine, if convicted.
