The final round of public hearings on a rate increase request by Atmos Energy Corp. will take place Sept. 3 in Gainesville, Ga.
Atmos is seeking an annual revenue hike of $6.1 million, which would increase the average residential customer's bill by $4.71 per month.
The hearing will begin 10 a.m. at the Georgia Mountains Center, 301 Main St., in Gainesville, which is about an hour northeast of Atlanta, the Georgia Public Service Commission said Tuesday. A second day of public input will be held 10 a.m. Sept. 4 should not everyone have a chance to voice their opinion the day before, the PSC said.
Atmos is allowed to rebut any public testimony during the hearings.
The natural gas company last received a boost in its base rate in 2005, with customers' monthly bills rising by 45 cents.
The commission is scheduled to make a final decision in the case at an administrative session at 2 p.m. Sept. 17. Any new rates would take effect Sept. 21.
