Some of America's most celebrated gymnasts, just back from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, are beginning the 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars. They will be in Atlanta's Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17.
Among the gymnasts are All-Around Olympic gold medalist and balance beam silver medalist Nastia Liukin, balance beam gold medalist and All-Around silver medalist Shawn Johnson and 2008 U.S. Team silver medalist Chellsie Memmel plus members of the men’s bronze-winning Olympic team including 2008 Olympic high bar silver medalist Jonathan Horton, Kevin Tan, Joe Hagerty and Justin Spring. Former Olympic medalists Paul Hamm, Morgan Hamm, Shannon Miller, Blaine Wilson and the U.S. gymnastics team will join the others.
Paul and Morgan Hamm had to resign their positions on the men's team because of multiple injuries, but have continued training. They will be performing with the rest of the team on tour.
The 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars will offer fans an opportunity to see some of their favorite gymnasts perform live in an extraordinary sports and music extravaganza. In addition to medal-worthy athletic routines the show will feature songs from the Walt Disney Records’ "Disney Girlz Rock 2" CD and live performances from teen sensations Jordan Pruitt and KSM.
