A man is in critical condition after being shot in the chest Wednesday afternoon.
The 34-year-old Columbus man had walked to a store at the corner of Fort Benning and Torch Hill roads around 5:50 p.m. and was returning to his job at a barber shop when the shooting happened, said Columbus Police Capt. Gordon Griswuld.
"Some suspect came by in a vehicle and shot him," the captain said.
The victim was taken to Martin Army Hospital, where a doctor told police he remained in serious condition. The wound, however, doesn't appear to be life threatening.
No arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation.
