The West Central Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross will open up a shelter for Hurricane Gustav evacuees at Calvary Christian School.
The shelter will open at 7 p.m. tonight. Evacuees will be housed in the gym on the school's campus on Old Moon Road.
Mitzi Oxford, development director for the chapter, said they have enough room and cots to accommodate 400 people. She said they have already gotten several calls from evacuees looking for shelter, so she expected them to start coming in soon after the shelter opens.
Evacuees looking for shelter can contact the Red Cross at 706-323-5614 or visit any of the state's Welcome Centers to obtain a list of open hurricane shelters.
