The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has granted Police Chief Ricky Boren's motion to stop a civil trial in which he is a defendant.
Boren, who is a defendant in a case filed by former police officer Alicia Davenport, was granted the stay Thursday. The order states the stay only pertains to retaliation claims Davenport made against the chief. Her suit alleges Boren transferred her from the Narcotics and Vice Division to the Patrol Division in retaliation for complaining.
U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land said last week that if the appeals court stayed Boren's part of the case, he would postpone the case against all other defendants.
