A brand-new event, Corks and Canvas, begins at 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Columbus Museum, 1251 Wynnton Road.
It's a collaboration between the Columbus Contemporaries, a Columbus Museum membership group for young professionals, and the Greater Columbus Georgia Young Professionals, a program initiated through the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
The evening blends viewing art at the museum with a wine tasting in an effort to promote community involvement and cultural awareness among the area's young professionals.
Meritage Cafe will provide the wine and light hors d'oeuvres.
Never miss a local story.
There will be a private tour of the 2008 Columbus Biennial by Kristen Miller Zohn, the museum's curator of collections and exhibitions. The exhibit is a display of art in many different media by a diverse group of contemporary Southern artists. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door. It's $5 for Contemporaries and Young Professionals members. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. Friday by calling Lane Riley at 706-748-2562, ext. 542. Reservations are strongly encouraged and only a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
