If you enjoy watching mixed martial artists kick, punch and grapple their way to glory, you'll want to attend Fort Benning's fourth U.S. Army Combatives Championship at Smith Fitness Center on Dixie Road on October 4 and 5.
Preliminary matches will kick off at 8 a.m., Oct. 4. Final matches will begin at 1 p.m., Oct. 5.
The tournament will be held round-robin style. Approximately 200 men and women from around the world will compete for medals. The tournament has seven weight divisions.
Modern Combatives is a functional mixed martial art form combining Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, clinch hitting, takedowns and groundfighting techniques. Combatives also employs techniques borrowed from judo, kick boxing and Greco-roman wrestling.
Weigh-ins will be conducted on Oct. 3.
