The Business Resource Center is offering a workshop to managers and supervisors who want to prevent union from forming at their businesses.
The Tuesday workshop, "A Practical Guide to Union Avoidance," will teach participants how to spot union activity, how to talk to employees about unions, conditions that make firms ripe for union campaigns and more.
Judy Thomas, Columbus Mayor Jim Wetherington's executive assistant, will be on hand to speak about what companies can do to keep employees happy and union-free. Thomas spent about 30 years working with the California Teacher Union before moving back to Columbus.
The workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Flournoy Construction Co., 1100 Brookstone Centre Parkway in Columbus.
The workshop costs $85 per person. You get a 15 percent discount if three or more people from the same organization attend.
The deadline to register is Friday. Call 706-649-6400 ext. 1204.
