Columbus State University will stage a 50th Anniversary Convocation from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Bill Heard Theatre, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway.
CSU President Tim Mescon will preside over the event, which will serve as the 2008 Freshman Convocation and as acts as the final signature event in a year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the university’s founding.
To mark this event, faculty and freshmen will dress in academic regalia and stage a procession up 10th Street into the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. The convocation will feature Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin as the 2008 Hunter Lecture Series speaker, and the naming of Frank Brown as president emeritus.
Both main campus and RiverPark campus will be closed and classes canceled from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.for the event, which is free and open to the public.
