Local Grainger employees will join forces with volunteers from House of Heroes Saturday to repair the Dunbar Avenue home of retired Staff Sgt. David Thomas.
The volunteer effort follows a $10,000 donation made in August on behalf of the Grainger Foundation to House of Heroes based upon a recommendation from Grainger's branch manager Brian Brock.
In 1950, Thomas joined the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. He won the Bronze Star in Vietnam. He was medically retired in 1971.
"We're proud to support House of Heroes with this contribution," said Brock, "but our support goes much deeper. What we're most excited about is rolling up our sleeves and heloing repair the homes of our local heroes."
