A Carver High School coach and teacher was arrested Thursday on domestic violence charges after he allegedly punched his wife in the head, police said.
Lucretius Stephens, an assistant football coach and special education teacher at the high school, was arrested and charged with battery with physical harm Thursday morning.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred in the parking lot of Comer Recreation Center on Joyner Drive at around 10:15 a.m, according to a police report.
Stephens' wife told police that her husband struck her on the right side of her forehead with a closed fist.
She sustained a knot and bruise to her head, but refused treatment.
Lucretius Stephens, 35, was booked into the Muscogee County jail. He bonded out Thursday.
Valerie Fuller, director of communications for the school district, said Stephens has been employed with the district since August 2005. Since his arrest, he has been assigned to another department where he is not working with students until the investigation is complete.
