The Muscogee County School Board will hold a work session tonight at 5 p.m. to discuss potential budget reductions for fiscal years 2009 and 2010.
The system has been asked by Gov. Sonny Perdue to cut about 2 percent of the budget --- about $3.7 million.
They could also be asked to cut an additional $5.1 million if the Homestead Tax Relief Grant is not reimbursed. The action will adversely affect the fiscal year 2009 budget of the school district.
Department heads have been meeting to discuss ways to trim the budgets in ways that will least impact student instruction.
Never miss a local story.
The work session is open to the public.
