The U.S. Army Cadet Corps of the American Cadet Alliance wants to expand the corps into Columbus.
The organization is seeking adult volunteers with strong military backgrounds to help train the young cadets. Volunteers would also likely be called upon to perform administrative duties.
Army cadets typically train one weekend or two Saturdays each month as well as two weeks each summer. This is in addition to their school activities. The corps teaches marksmanship and land survival and stresses the importance of leadership, physical fitness and community service.
