Aflac's innovative business technology has garnered it a spot on this year's InformationWeek 500 list. This was the local supplemental insurer's fifth time on the list since 2000.
The magazine's annual list identifies "the most innovative users of business technology."
Aflac, specifically, was honored for Mobile Aflac, a development that lets its sales force access account information with their wireless handheld devices. It's used to deliver more efficient customer service and is available to more than 70,000 sales agents across the U.S.
Rob Preston, InformationWeek editor-in-chief, congratulated companies for their "ingenuity and risk-taking."
Never miss a local story.
"Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue and establish a competitive advantage," Preston said in a statement.
In compiling the list, InformationWeek tracked technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of best-known U.S. companies.
