The sounds of bagpipes and drum led the way for Columbus State University freshman and faculty this morning as they marched through downtown Columbus.
The procession, beginning at the Corn Center for the Visual Arts and concluding at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, was part of CSU's 50th Anniversary Convocation. The convocation was the final event in CSU's yearlong 50th anniversary celebration.
Campus was closed and classes cancelled until 1:30pm for the event. The Freshman Convocation is an annual event serving as a formal rite of passage for the freshman, inducting them into the CSU community.
Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin delivered the keynote speech at the event.
