When Hugh B. Landrum Jr. agreed to becoming the interim director of the Columbus Museum in 1993, he thought it would be a short-term assignment.
Little did he know that it would last almost a year before Tom Butler was named the museum's director.
In the years that Butler has been in Columbus, he came to know Landrum very well.
Landrum, 91, died Thursday.
"This is a very sad day," Butler said. "I feel so honored, so very, very honored to call him a dear, dear friend."
Funeral arrangements are pending.
