A local motorcycle club set aside their bikes and leathers, instead donning red t-shirts and putting their feet to the pavement Saturday morning to raise money for a local child in need.
The Bi-City Riders, a group of motorycle riders from Columbus and Phenix City, led the walk-a-thon for Shania Davis,3, of Columbus, who has Club Feet.
The three-mile-long fundrasing walk began at Rotary Park and was the third event the group has done to raise what they hope will be $5,000 to assist Davis' family with expenses associated with her recovery and rehabilitation process from surgery. Shriners Hospital has agreed to do the surgery, said Lee-Ray Bennett, club representative.
"She's a very sweet little girl," said Bennett. Bennett said the club began raising funds in September and so far has raised approximately $4,000 by seeking donationas as well as selling t-shirts for $10.
Never miss a local story.
Those wishing to make a donation may do so at any Wachovia Bank under the account name of "Tri-City Riders.", said Bennett.
