Mount Olive Elementary has received a $1,500 reading grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.
The grant will be used for projects focused on "healthy" reading.
The school received the grant after fifth-grade students at the school read Body Trek: A Journey Through Me, a booklet about health and safety, and completed follow-up activities.
Each student read the book over a six-week period. A minimum of 80 percent of the fifth-grade class had to complete the activity to be eligible for the grant.
Never miss a local story.
Each student who participated received a certificate.
