Employees from St. Francis Hospital were busy this morning delivering nearly 300 Christmas bags to needy senior citizens as part of their annual Stockings for Seniors program.
The program, in its ninth year and coordinated by the St. Francis' Mission Awareness Team, delivered the bags Monday morning to the House of Mercy, Stewart Community Home, Russell Country DFACS and Columbus Gardens.
"It's our way of being able to give back to the community," said Robert Holt, who spearheads the effort and was delivering the gifts with fellow employees Jessica Pate, Stacy Scherr and Karen Johnson.
Included in the bags are a variety personal hygiene items as well as wrapped gifts.
"We try to give them the necessities plus somethings they can open and enjoy, " Holt said.
Joining hospital employees in donating were St Anne Pacelli School and Eddy Middle School.
