Though the number of applicants who came out Wednesday was more than three times the number of available jobs, Valley Hospitality continues taking applications today to staff Columbus' Doubletree Hotel.
The job fair is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at The Marriott, 800 Front Ave.
On the first day of recruiting, applicants were lined up out into the The Marriott parking lot by 8:30 a.m., said David Hay, the human resources director. He said about 700 people applied Wednesday for 200 available jobs.
Positions included cooks, clerks, dishwashers, housekeepers and luggage handlers. Hay said the fair continues today, despite the deluge of applicants Wednesday.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, applicants should have at least six months' experience and a high school diploma or its equivalent. They will have to submit to a background check and a drug screening. They should bring a resume, if possible, and be prepared for an interview.
