Brad Hicks has been named the Director of Homeland Security for Muscogee County. He was selected by Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr.
Hicks is an eight-year veteran of the sheriff's department and a former Ranger with the Third Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment.
Hicks, 32, was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant.
He has attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Hazardous Devices School at Huntsville's Redstone Arsenal.
"As you can see by his credentials," said Columbus Mayor Jim Wetherington, "he is eminently qualified to serve the citizens of Muscogee County in this role.
