The Jubalheirs of the Georgia Baptist Convention will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 212 12th St.
There is no admission, but an offering will be taken.
The Jubalheirs is a choral praise and proclamation ministry, made up of women leaders in music ministry from churches throughout Georgia.
The group was founded in 1973 by Laverne Melton, who is the current minister of outreach/special events at First Baptist. She was the Jubalheirs' first conductor.
The concert will include piano and organ accompaniment by Mary Ellen Kerrick of Atlanta, Kathy Duren of Truett-McConnell College and Judy Crumley of Atlanta. A handbell choir, directed by Beth Humber of St. Simons Island, will also perform.
With more than 100 voices, the choir will present arrangements of hymns, spirituals and newly composed songs in this worship concert.
The Jubalheirs have presented concerts in the U.S. and abroad.
The group meets for an annual retreat at which they learn music; and they also rehearse during the day before each concert. All members pay their own expenses for both the retreat and travel to the concert. The offering and proceeds from the CD sales will support the group's mission projects.
