Columbus-based financial services company Synovus saw its stock post sharp gains in midday trading Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange.
The stock was up 86 cents, trading at $4.03 at 1 p.m. That is a more than 26 percent climb in the stock's value. The stock reached a daily high price of $4.85 per share shortly after the markets opened.
It is well above the 52-week low of $2.33 per share, which was set last Friday.
Synovus was doing much better than the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which was trading slightly higher.
