Chattahoochee Valley residents should avoid traveling Saturday if possible. In East Alabama, the Salem area appears to have been the hardest hit. US 280 is currently blocked near the flea market in the western portion of Lee County. In Columbus, about three feet of water has accumulated around 10th Street outside the Muscogee County Jail.
At the corner of Fifth Ave. and 14th Street, a Columbus city trolley was stalled out in several feet of water at Fifth Avenue and 14th Street. The driver was giving passengers piggyback rides to safety.
While the tornado warnings have been lifted for the area, some people in South Columbus have reported funnel clouds in that area of town.
