A District Court jury has convicted a Phenix City man in the slaying of Goldstar Taxi Services driver Jack L. Horne.
Mastermichael Ramsey was found guilty of murder by the jury shortly before noon today. The jury deliberated three hours Thursday and early this morning.
Horne was robbed and shot to death Aug. 5, 2006, in a remote part of Fort Benning.
Jerry Halicki, owner of the taxi company, said outside the courtroom that he's relieved the jury returned with the correct verdict. Family members stood on the steps of the 12th Street building and exchanged hugs, many with tears welling in their eyes. Many said the verdict could start some closure to the shooting.
